Soup Kitchen

We began our work in 2007 by going door to door in the village and just seeing who needed help. We found a lot of the children from the village either live with grandparents or with single mothers (many of which often prostitute themselves.) They live in harsh poverty and are unable to eat on a regular schedule like children should. We wrote a list of the children in the village who needed help and rented out a place to start feeding them. Along with feeding the children we began to teach them about GOD along with basic life skills like how to read.

Since that time we have steadily fed over 125 children a day, helped them with their education and taught them about the ways of GOD!

School

One of the things that really caught our attention was the pattern the kids took after they left our foundation. Although they were bettered in many ways, there was a good amount of them that were falling into the reckless ways of their fathers. As we called out to GOD for a solution, HE answered in a way we never would’ve imagined! Following the LORD’s leading, we are now starting the process of opening a school in the village! We believe that through educating the children differently than the rest of the village, we will be able to help them grow up to be responsible, contributing people with a calling and purpose. Our main goal is for there to be a lifelong change and we believe education is the best vehicle to accomplish that.

Orphanage

Our dream has always been to rescue children from the streets and give them a chance to fulfill their destiny! I don’t know one person whose heart doesn’t break when they see a homeless child. Humanity has a tender spot for the defenseless of the world. I believe now is our time to go out and make a difference…one homeless child at a time.

We are in the process of creating an orphanage unlike any other. One that optimizes the love they have been neglected for so many years, encourages them to find out what gifts and talents they have and empowers them to follow their dreams in a safe place. Our hope is to create a family atmosphere where the children (infants-teens) will be able to enjoy what every child deserves in this World.

Along with the basics that go in an Orphanage we are working on plans that will allow them to take the next step and become successful parts of society. We feel it’s almost destructive to just give them a home until the age of 18 and then throw them out on the streets without help or a learned trade. Our team is currently working on plans and connecting with companies so that when they leave our home they can have a team of people who will help them get acclimated to their new lives as responsible adults. The plan is to connect with companies, churches and mentors to help them transition into their new lives with plans and accountability, so that each individual can have sustainable growth and success.

Work

Colombia is an entrepreneurial nation. People of all ages and lifestyles make their living by running their own companies. Part of our vision is to take care of the widows and single mothers in a not so ordinary manner. We deal with a lot of women, who for lack of a better word have gotten themselves into prostitution to provide their families. It is not the typical prostitution though. The women we deal with have “boyfriends”, who they sleep with in order to have their basic needs met and children fed. Although some do accept money, the majority of them have men who provide for anything from groceries to medical visits for their children through these means. As a result it’s quite common to see a woman with 4 or 5 children from different fathers. Part of the help we offer is to educate the women and show them better ways to provide for their families, while keeping their self-worth.

We also want to help train children as they get to adulthood how to start their own business or help them get connected to companies in the city so that when they are ready to move out on their own they can have jobs waiting for them. We will be instituting classes, workshops and mentors to help prepare the children for success as an adult. We believe these amazing children can be the seed to a better Colombia!
